These Hot BBQ Wings are a creative twist to original buffalo wings. This recipe was inspired by my brother-in-law Alex who also cooks amazing plov and is a pro at grilling. He deep fries wings in batches to get a perfect result of crispy wing on the outside and moist and juicy on the inside. I decided to bake instead, and with a little trick the result of crispy and moist wing is achieved. You can make them either way and enjoy! Use the structured ingredient and direction fields below for cooking. The recipe source is Delights of Culinaria.
- Step 1
Bring a large pot of water to a boil and season the water with salt.
- Step 2
Add the 30 chicken wings and boil for 5 minutes.
- Step 3
Drain the wings and transfer them to a large bowl.
- Step 4
Season the wings with additional salt and black pepper to taste, then squeeze the juice from 1/2 lemon over them and toss to coat.
- Step 5
Preheat the oven to 500°F.
- Step 6
Arrange the wings in a single layer on a cooling rack.
- Step 7
Place the cooling rack over a rimmed baking sheet and add a small amount of water to the bottom of the pan.
- Step 8
Bake for 30 minutes.
- Step 9
Turn the wings over and bake for another 20–30 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp.
- Step 10
Meanwhile, combine 1/2 cup BBQ sauce, 1/2 cup Frank’s Hot Sauce, and 2 tablespoons butter in a small saucepan.
- Step 11
Heat until the butter melts and the sauces are completely combined. If the BBQ sauce tastes too tangy, add a small amount of sugar as needed to balance the flavor.
- Step 12
Transfer the hot wings to a large bowl and pour the warm BBQ-hot sauce mixture over them.
- Step 13
Toss until evenly coated, let the wings rest for 3–5 minutes, then toss once more.
- Step 14
Garnish with minced fresh cilantro, if desired, and serve hot.

These were so easy to make and sooooo delicious!!! Thank you for the easy step by step instructions. The sauce was a BIG HIT with my hubby. Also, the cookie rack was a fabulous idea for the wings to come out so crispy and fully cooked and juicy inside. Yum! I will be making it again sometime soon :))))

These look so good. I love chicken wings. Is there a reason for adding water to the bottom of the pan?
